The connection to "Hamlet" in the above billboard ad is the quote "To thine own self be true", spoken by Polonius to his son Laertese, act I scene III:

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!"

BTW when i say "a form of self expression known worldwide" I'm talking about clothing (everyone (almost) wears clothes).
